CDC Reports Ongoing Spread of COVID-19 FLiRT Variants Across the United States

 

In the US, a fresh strain of COVID-19 variations is proliferating, as reported by the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

According to the CDC, a group of variants known as "FLiRT" have taken over as the most common strain in the nation.

According to CDC data, KP.2, one of the FLiRT variations, is presently responsible for approximately one out of every four illnesses in the United States.

WFTV 9 News reports that the KP.2 form of COVID-19 may be more harmful than earlier variations.

According to WebMD, FLiRT has some concerning characteristics, including modifications in spike protein that help SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, take over a person's body. Megan L. Ranney, MD, is the dean of the Yale School of Public Health.

The CDC warns that COVID-19 is still a concern to public health even with the decline in severe cases.

Reimmunisation with the revised COVID-19 vaccination is advised for anyone who are over 65.
