Google Prepares April Update for Pixel 7 and Pixel 8 to Address Network and Calling Problems
Google has yet to recognise the mystery April update build
that it released the other day, but one of its carrier partners has already
revealed details about it. In fact, a brand-new April update is being released
in an attempt to resolve LTE call and network data problems that users have
been experiencing since March.
This new update is expected to start rolling out to some Verizon Pixel devices
for the time being. But I think this will also apply to other devices, such as
the AT&T Pixels that haven't received an update in a month.
Verizon has updated the Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8, and Pixel 8 Pro support pages to reflect that all of these smartphones are now receiving the AP1A.240405.002.B1 build that was released earlier today. This update "provides performance improvements for LTE call/data and network issues," per these support pages.
On April 18, the day Google posted the builds to its factory
image website, the upgrade is mentioned as having been issued. To the best of
my knowledge, it doesn't appear to be spreading extensively. Now that this
information is available to the public, I'm going to assume that it is prepared
for you. Navigate to Settings>System>System update to see if you have
this update.
Tell us if your Pixel phones have received the update, what carrier you use,
and whether it resolves your network problems.
